Course structure

Our meticulously structured IDC covers all the essential aspects of professional dive instruction, divided into several modules:

• eLearning: you’ll start the course studying on your own before arrival, in the comfort of your preferred environment and at your own pace, for a better learning experience;

• Distance learning (7 to 9 days): most of the theory presentations are now given through online video conferences, reducing the stay in Isla Mujeres and the related travel costs. It includes one extra day for the dive theory review.

• Practical session (11 days) including:

  • Emergency First Responder Instructor (EFRI) Program (1 day): Learn how to teach vital first aid and CPR skills, earning your EFRI certification. 

  • Extra specialties instructor courses: Emergency Oxygen Provider and Enriched Air Nitrox and Aware Shark Conservation.

  • Extra workshops including basic compressor use and dive equipment maintenance. 

  • Academic Teaching Workshops: Participate in workshops designed to refine your academic presentation skills using the Prescriptive Teaching method.

  • Confined Water Teaching: Learn how to prepare and conduct confined water presentations, covering briefing, demonstration, problem-solving, group control, and debriefing.

  • Open Water Teaching: Focus on open water presentations, giving at least two open water presentations and demonstrating a minimum of two skills in each session.

  • Water Skills Development: Practice the 24 skills from the Divemaster skill circuit and refine your rescue skills in a Rescue Workshop.

  • Special dry and wet workshops: To give you a better understanding of how to teach complex skills such as lift-bag exercises, rescue skills, and many more.

This allows you to have longer time to study, to repeat any of the presentations if you feel you need to, and also to split the payment over longer periods.
